Helen May Rucarean of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2026. She was born on May 6, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, to Alexander Hordos and Victoria Dobrin Hordos. Helen shared a beautiful life and a loving marriage of more than 70 years with her beloved husband, Nicholas G. Rucarean. Their many years together were a testament to a lasting bond built through a lifetime of shared experiences and memories.
A creative spirit and an outside-the-box thinker, Helen possessed a unique perspective that carried into her work as an interior designer and artist. She was a contributor to the fine arts community in the Gainesville area, where her creativity and appreciation for artistic expression left a meaningful impression. Helen’s ability to see possibilities beyond the ordinary was a special part of who she was and how she approached the world around her.
Helen leaves behind family and friends who will forever cherish her memory and hold close the moments they shared with her. Her life, creativity, and the love she gave to those around her will continue to be remembered by all who knew her.
