Audrey Gorski

Audrey Gorski, age 88, of Leesburg, Florida was called home to the Lord on August 24, 2026. Born in Milwaukee on January 26, 1938, Audrey was the fourth of five children of Benjamin and Frances (nee Dix) Wierzba. She attended St. Hyacinth Grade School and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1956. She met Edward Gorski at a dance and on November 10, 1962 they were married and soon began a family. They had three children, daughter Lynne, and sons David and Robert. She worked many secretarial jobs, including executive secretary to Al McGuire at Marquette University. Audrey had a great love for the outdoors, especially enjoying family camping trips and spending time at the cottage in Minocqua, Wisconsin. A competitive person who enjoyed games of all kinds, she especially loved to play sheepshead and rummikub. She was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed volleyball, dancing, fishing, and watching the Green Bay Packers. When Edward retired, they embarked on a decade long RV journey across the United States visiting and hiking many National Parks. Eventually they settled in Leesburg, Florida. Remaining active, she continued to play tennis until well into her 60's and enjoyed playing many card games with her Highland Lakes friends. With a fighting spirit that never quit despite years of battling multiple health issues, she continued to enjoy life until the very end.

Audrey was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and we are grateful and blessed to have had her in our lives. Her strong Catholic faith was both a guide and a comfort to her throughout her life. Her gentle heart and cheerfulness will be missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Gerald Wierzba, Elaine (Rolly) Acker, Mary Ann (Donald) Brandhagen.

Audrey is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Edward Gorski, children Lynne (Mark) Ziolkowski, David Gorski, and Robert (Melanie) Gorski and grandchildren Ryan (Julia), Leah, Hannah, Emma, Ben, and James. She is also survived by her brother Thomas (the late Rosi) Wierzba, sister-in-law Caryl Bellanger, and many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Visitation will take place on Monday, September 14 at Saint Paul Catholic Church (1330 Sunshine Ave, Leesburg) from 10:30 AM to the time of mass at 11:00 AM.
