Scott Watkins

It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Bennett Scott Watkins Sr.'s passing on February 22, 2026, at the age of 64. Scott was born on August 22, 1961, in Jacksonville, Florida, and he spent the last years of his life in Gainesville.

Scott was a man who cherished the simple joys in life. He loved bowling. You could often find him cheering on the Florida Gators and enjoying Scrabble matches with his sisters, bringing his competitive spirit to every game.

He is survived by his loving sister, Diane Finley, his children Corritha Sumner, Johnny Watkins, Julie Watkins, and Bennett Scott Watkins Jr., and his brother, Rick Collier.

Scott will be cremated, and his remains will be laid to rest at Jacksonville National Cemetery at a later date.

Scott was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Dana McCoy, his parents, Richard Watkins and Nova Brewer, and his siblings, Sonja Steele, Debra Sigmon, and John Collier.

Though he may no longer be with us, Scott will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
