David Smith

David Michael Smith, age 81, of Fort White, Florida, passed away on February 18, 2026, at a hospital in Gainesville, Florida.

He was born on July 7, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Dorothy Hogan Smith and Paul Michael Smith. David earned his bachelor's degree and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Army. His dedication to service continued throughout his life, not only to his nation but to his community as well.

David was the owner of a midwifery birth center, where he devoted himself to supporting families during some of life's most meaningful moments. His work reflected his compassion, steady presence, and commitment to caring for others. He was respected for his knowledge, his kindness, and the positive impact he made in the lives of so many.

He leaves behind many family members and friends who will cherish his memory and carry forward the lessons, love, and strength he shared with them.
