Joseph Clifton Neel

Joseph Clifton Neel, age 58, passed away on August 7, 2016 at his home in Gainesville, Florida. Joe was born in Athens, Georgia on June 24, 1958, to Martha and Malcolm Neel. He was the third son of six children.Joe played trombone in the band and ran for the track team at St. Augustine High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and later worked in construction.Surviving Joe was his wife of over twenty-one years, Christine Neel, who passed away October 1, 2016. Joe is also survived by his son Thomas, and brothers and sisters Jack (Leila), Carolyn (Kevin), Nick (Sherilyn) and Mamie (David) as well as Christine's sons Shawn (Peggy) and Kevin, Christine's grandchildren Erika, Zachary, Kristie and Karrie, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.Joe loved fishing, camping, bowling, playing pool and games of all kinds. He enjoyed going to the movies and out to eat with his Wife, Christine. Joe loved their dog, Foxy, and their cat, Zochi.In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in memory of Christine and Joe to the American Cancer Society or to E.T. York Haven Hospice in Gainesville.
