Megan Kathleen (Peterson) Martin passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Gainesville, FL, the place of her birth, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.
Megan spent the majority of her life in Tallahassee, FL, and was a vibrant individual whose love for all things living created a space in her life for a variety of friends and experiences. She took great pleasure in expressing her eclectic nature whether it was her diverse taste in music, her famous collection of snails, or her tender care for most animals (admittedly, Megan did not like birds!). Her creativity burst forth in poetry, journaling, and various forms of art, as well as appreciation for the creative expressions of others – early era posters and memorabilia of the Beatles especially brought her joy.
Most distinctly though, was Megan’s passion for her children. Her primary vocation and devotion were to them, and she found her natural niche in life sharing her love with them. Her resolve, her care, and her attention to her children were great gifts to them and a great example and inspiration to those who knew her.
At only 40 years young, she is survived by her 5 children – Caleb Temple Mathison of Tallahassee, and Nico Angeline Martin, Aidan Patrick Martin, Abigail Blythe Martin, and Jude Daniel Martin, all of Gainesville; her father Dr. J. Patrick Peterson and “second mom” Linda Peterson, of Tallahassee; her mother Sallye Petruchyk of Hayes, VA; her sisters, Marianne Kraut, Moetke Soule, and Heather Treger; her brothers, Michael Peterson and Justin Montfort.
