Monica Kay (Jacobs) Bell died peacefully at home in Alachua, FL on Wednesday, July 27th. She was born on Feb 18, 1968 to Edward & Karen Jacobs in Moline, IL. Monica moved with her family through the years, settling in Gainesville, FL in 1972.
Growing up in Gainesville, she attended and was baptized at Oak Park Baptist Church. After graduating from Gainesville High School in June, 1986, she attended Santa Fe Community College studying medicine, as well as began studying to become a nun.
Through the years, Monica also worked for several area businesses, including Dampier’s Septic Company, Nationwide Insurance Co, Stephen A. Bagen, Attorney, W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractors, as well as Cox Cable, where she met her beloved David Bell. They were married on November 7, 1992. Monica & David loved cats and adopted many through the years.
However, David preceded her in death in May, 2011. Monica later became disabled and courageously fought numerous health challenges through the last several years. Monica loved playing with and loving on her many cats, cooking (and eating), playing board games with friends and traveling to the Blue Ridge mountains. Her greatest joy was worshiping with her family in Christ at Living Covenant Church.
Monica is survived by her brother, Jon Jacobs, his wife, Kelly and their children, Melissa, Heather, Lisa and Noah, Jon’s daughter, Karen and her three children, Kyleigh, Kaleb and Kassie. She is also loved and will be missed by her cat children, Squeaky, Rainey, Patches, Louie, Tiggie, Callie and Rosie. Her church family loved her and she will especially be missed by her devoted sisters in Christ, Kathy (Bruce) Russell and Melissa (Cullen) Corbett.
