In Loving Memory of Paula Elaine Steinke
February 28, 1959 - October 10, 2026
Paula Elaine Steinke, 67, passed away on October 10, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, kindness, and memories that will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her.
A Cape Cod girl at heart, Paula carried her love for the ocean, beaches, and lighthouses with her throughout her life. Cape Cod was more than just a place to her; it was a piece of who she was. She loved cycling, the beauty of the coastline, and the simple joys of being surrounded by the people she loved.
Paula was a remarkably intelligent and compassionate woman who earned her master's degree and dedicated part of her professional life to helping others as a mental health caseworker on the adolescent unit at Cape Cod Hospital. Her work reflected the person she was: someone who saw the good in others, cared deeply, and had an extraordinary ability to make people feel valued and understood.
Anyone who met Paula would tell you about her beautiful, bright smile. She was the kind of woman whose warmth could fill a room, whose kindness came naturally, and whose intelligence was matched only by the size of her heart. She had a way of leaving a lasting impression on people, even after the briefest encounter.
But of all the things Paula accomplished in her life, nothing meant more to her than being a wife, a mother, and a grandmother.
She shared her life with her beloved husband, Richard Carl Steinke, and was the proud mother of three children: Christopher Steinke; Katelynne Steinke; and Danielle Chapman and her husband, Nicholas. She was also a deeply loving grandmother to Ryan and Scarlett, who brought immeasurable happiness and purpose to her life. Her family was her greatest pride, her greatest joy, and the center of her world.
Paula also held a special place in her heart for Brooks Rehabilitation and its Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program. Through Brooks, she found far more than activities and opportunities. She found friendship, belonging, encouragement, and a second family. The love, compassion, and sense of community she experienced there meant more to her than words could ever express.
Throughout life's challenges, Paula remained a woman of remarkable strength, determination, and grace. She was so much more than the difficulties she faced. She was brilliant, funny, loving, resilient, and endlessly devoted to the people around her. She had an incredible ability to make others smile, even when life wasn't easy.
Paula's legacy will not be measured by the years she lived, but by the countless lives she touched, the love she gave so freely, and the family she leaves behind. Her smile, her kindness, her wisdom, and her unwavering love will continue to live on in everyone who knew her.
In accordance with her family's wishes, there will be no traditional funeral service. A celebration of Paula's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to come together to share memories, laughter, and the love she inspired.
While the world has lost a beautiful soul, those who loved Paula will forever carry a little of her light with them. And somewhere, beyond the shoreline, the lighthouse still shines.
