Obituary for Stephen Armen Alahverde
May 20, 1944 – March 19, 2026
Stephen Armen Alahverde, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on March 19, 2026, at the age of 81.
Stephen was a loyal and dedicated family man who shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Helene, who passed just two months before him. Their bond was a true testament to lifelong love and partnership.
He leaves behind his six children: Kimberly Manners (Jim), Lisa Morris, Jennifer Alahverde, Anna Alahverde, Aaron Alahverde (Kate), and Joanna Kaniewski (James). He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and a great-grandfather to ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Stephen will also be remembered for his deep love of animals. Throughout his life, he was rarely without a pet by his side, frequently welcoming cats and dogs into his home, and at one point even raising chickens. His compassion extended to all creatures, and he found great comfort and happiness in caring for them.
As a young man in Tampa, Stephen spent time at the winter camp of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, where he befriended the entertainers and their children. It was a colorful and unforgettable part of his life, filled with unique experiences and stories. On occasion, his connection to the circus even followed him home, as he was entrusted with unusual animals—including a monkey and an alligator—further reflecting both his adventurous spirit and his lifelong bond with animals.
He will be remembered for his strength, his loyalty, and his unwavering commitment to his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
